What to bring for your choice of Stag & Hen Activities
Please make sure that everyone in your group has this information. Wear warm clothing – lots of thin layers are better than one thick jumper. DO NOT WEAR JEANS – they become heavy and cold when wet. Shorts, T-shirts and thin sweatshirts are not warm enough even on Summer days as the temperature underground will be a lot lower. Nylon waterproofs, tops and if possible bottoms – old ones are best. Wellies (which you can hire from Inglesports shop in Ingleton if you need to hire them please do so BEFORE the meeting time). If you wear walking boots they will get very wet and may never recover!! Trainers are inadequate. Flask of hot drink and packed lunch/food. Towel. Complete change of clothing. Old gloves can be useful, rubber gloves keep the hands dry. In cold/wet weather, gloves and a warm hat will be needed for the walk to and from the cave. If you do own a wetsuit you might wish to wear it for caving but this is not essential. If it is new/smart, wear something over it to protect it. Helmets, belts and lamps will be provided. Most of the caving that we do involves getting wet and so the more clothing you have to keep you warm and as dry as possible, the more we can do. If you do not own such equipment we may be able to supply you with some, or we will adapt the caving accordingly.
Trainers or boots - something with good grip and suitable for walking to the crag. Some extra warm clothes. Waterproofs (tops and bottoms). Food and hot flask, plus cold drink if it's hot. Sunglasses, sunhat and sun-cream if hot. Gloves and warm hat if cold/wet. If you have long hair, bring something to tie it back with to stop it getting caught when abseiling.
Old trainers for getting wet not wellies or boots. Waterproof top and trousers can be very useful. Spare clothes – complete set. Towel. Flask of hot drink and some food. In sunny weather, sunglasses, sunhat, and sun cream. In cold/wet weather, warm hat and gloves – washing up gloves over thin woollen gloves are excellent.
